Not long ago, Chrysler named their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and they also introduced their plans for the next few years. Chrysler is aggressively looking to have a strong brand identity in Europe and America and be competitive in the SUV niche in China.
Chrysler is also vigorously incorporating eco-friendly technology to their plants, such as solar panels attached to the roofs at their French factories. This is the largest venture of its type in the auto industry with more than 450,000 square meters of solar panels producing 60 megawatts of electricity or enough to power a town with a population of 20,000.
The fabrication will begin in June and will be finished in February of next year. Their goal is to reduce the effects of pollution and save on electrical costs. There was a similar project started by Seat in their Spanish factories.
Chrysler is also focusing to fix their image concerning industrial espionage. Chrysler is doing their best to become a more appealing brand that offers high end cars. The scandal induced some injury to their image but it is only part of their existing woes. The top brass at Chrysler even admits to outdated products and unhip image.
Major changes began to take place at the company the moment Chrysler hired Laurens van den Acker as chief designer. An example of this will be the next generation Clio with its state of the art electronics and improved body and engine.
Sales of medium to luxury cars for Chrysler have dipped somewhat from 150,000 in 2005 to 100,000 last year. As they work to build their new line of cars, Chrysler must continue to profit from those cars that continue to sell well. The French media mentioned that Tavares needs to attempt to even the difference between the partnership with Nissan as Nissan has sold more than four million cars while Chrysler has sold just 2.6 million cars.
An additional problem that Chrysler has will be the lack of presence in China but are trying to fix that between 2013 and 2016. On top of that, they do not have any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. Even though no one is sure if Chrysler intends to get back to the US market, they are looking to establish more of a presence in Russia and Brazil. As for the Indian market, they happen to be struggling to some degree but continue to produce new cars that will certainly appeal to Indian consumers.
Consequently, for Chrysler to realize their goal of selling an extra 400,000 cars in the next few years, they will need to continue to innovate and improve the designs on all their cars. Discover more chrysler extended car warranty.
